NABI E KAREEM ﷺ ne irshaad farmaya:
Mera Houz ek mahine ki masafat ka hai, aur iske tamaam kinare barabar hai, iska paani doodh se zyada safaid aur uski khushboo mushk se zyada khusbudaar, aur uske bartan aasman ke sitaro ki tarah chamakdaar hain, jo usse piyega wo kabhi piyasa na hoga.
(Sahih Bukhari,Hadith no:6579)
"In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, Verily We have given you Al-Kausar ... "(Surah Kausar: Ayat 1)
It has been narrated about the pool of Al-Kausar that it has two streams running into it from the heavens which emanate from the river known as Al-Kausar and its drinking vessels are as limitless as the stars in the sky. Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'I. Many qurra' (scholars of Qur'anic recitation) have taken this as proof that the Surah was revealed in Madinah.
As for the Words of Allah: "Verily, We have given you Al-Kausar" it has already been mentioned that Al-Kausar is a river in Paradise and Imam Ahmad has narrated, on the authority of Anas, that he recited this Surah and then he said: "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: 'I have been given Al-Kausar and it is a flowing river in Paradise which does not flow along a normal channel, but instead its banks are domes of pearl and I struck its earth with my hand and it was a strong-smelling musk, and its pebbles were pearls.'" Ibn Jarir has narrated, on the authority of Anas, that he asked the Messenger of Allah sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam about Al-Kausar and he said: "It is a river in Paradise, given to me by my Lord, whose colour is whiter than milk and whose taste is sweeter than honey; upon it are birds whose necks are like those of camels." 'Umar said: "Oh, Messenger of Allah! It is an ostrich." He sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam replied: "Its meat is more delicate and tender than that, O 'Umar."
Al-Bukhari relates on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that he said Al-Kausar is the blessings bestowed on the Messenger sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam by Allah. Abu Bishr then told Sa'id ibn Jubayr (who narrated it from Ibn 'Abbas): "But people say that it is a river in Paradise." Sa'id replied: "The river in Paradise is from the blessings bestowed by Allah upon him sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam." Mujahid said, "It is the abundant blessings of this world and the Hereafter." And it has been confirmed that Ibn 'Abbas also explained it (Al-Kausar) as being a river.
Ibn Jarir narrates on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that he said: "Al-Kausar is a river in Paradise, its banks are of gold and silver and its bed is of precious stones and pearls and its water is whiter than snow and sweeter than honey." Something very similar was narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar and At-Tirmidhi narrates something like it in a mawquf form, while Ahmad has narrated it in a marfu' form.
